Goodbye Tortilla Factory

Rumor has it that the Mission Tortilla Factory in Disney California Adventure has closed to make way for a chocolate factory.  This really upsets me as I love that Tortilla Factory.  It was a very fun little treat to DCA visitors.

I will miss you Tortilla Factory!

I will really miss everything from the corny preshow video, to the little people in the windows, to those fluffy fresh tortillas waiting for you as you exit.  Goodbye Tortilla Factory…  You will be missed.

Something New in the Star Trader!

On our last visit to Disneyland, we noticed that we could peek inside the Star Trader which is getting a new make-over for the opening of Star Tours.  What we saw inside was so cool.  It makes me that much more excited for the new Star Tours.

Now Boarding!

Look what’s above the Star Trader!  The area where we used to see the Peoplemover go by is now a Star Tours queue for aliens and other Star Wars characters.  It’s really just a scrolling sheet with outlines of the characters, but it is such a great and simple touch.  Details like this really sell the story.  We believe that those aliens are on their way to a distant planet guided by Star Tours.

Now look at the top of the photo…  Do you see anything familiar?  Why it’s the X-Wing that has been hidden in the Starcade for so many years!  It has now returned to the Star Trader!  Here is a photo of the X-Wing in its previous Starcade home:

Hints to Pirates 4?

So what do we have here? Barbossa is introducing this video and there are a couple things to notice:

1. Barbossa is in his classic Barbossa pirate garb. Does this mean that by the end of the film Barbossa will be a pirate again and no longer working for the British Royal Navy?

2. Look closely at the last scene with Barbossa… Does something look familiar? Barbossa is lying on a bed with a skeleton looking through a magnifying glass! An obvious attraction reference! I have to assume he is on the set for the film because it looks too authentic for a quick promotional piece. I’m so excited for this reference and I really hope it makes the final cut.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” opens May 20th at a theatre near you!
