Trivia Tuesdays – On a Wednesday?

Yes, today’s Trivia Tuesday is on a Wednesday.  Sorry for the delay, but here we go!

Now before we get on to our trivia question, let’s answer last week’s question, shall we?  Remember the question?

Disney California Adventure recently opened a replica of Carthay Circle Theatre.  Why is this theatre significant in Disney history?

The answer is: Carthay Circle Theatre is where Walt Disney’s first animated feature length film, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” premiered.

Congratulations to those who got the correct answer!

And now on to today’s question:

Where in Disneyland can you find the item pictured below?

The Return of the Matterhorn Bobsleds

After a lengthy refurbishment, the Matterhorn as returned to thrill guests of the Magic Kingdom!

The Mountain is Back!

The biggest change were the bobsleds themselves.  No longer will passengers be able to sit in the lap of a loved one.  Each seat is individual now.  Unfortunately, the single seats are very small.  I’m only 5’10” and I had a hard time being comfortable inside.  With the old bobsleds, I could extend my legs all the way.  But I assume the bobsleds are safer now which is always a good thing.

The All New Bobsleds

Once inside the Mighty Matterhorn, you will notice an updated audio system.  The roar of the abominable snowman is booming now.  It really makes you fear for what you know is coming.  The abominable snowman for the first time really scared me.  I loved it.  Also, since the audio is so loud, we can once again hear the roar throughout Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.  I have always loved hearing that while walking through the park.  When we see the abominable snowman himself, you will notice some lighting changes to really amplify his presence.  He  looks great.

The Abominable Snowman

Now we all know that the Matterhorn was repainted during this refurbishment and it looks amazing.  This is the best I have ever seen the Matterhorn look.  There are wonderful contrasts and details of snow throughout the mountain.

Looks Great!

Now for a blast from the past!  Once again, there are people scaling the mountain!  It is a great sight to see these people swinging down the majestic peak.  To go along with the Matterhorn climbers, there is also a yodeler!  A man stands on the edge of the mountain and yodels while playing an accordion!  At one point, I also saw him blow that giant horn that swiss people do.  RICOLA!

Preparing for their Descent

Can You Find the Yodeler?

How about now?

So while the new bobsleds themselves are a bit of a let down, the attraction looks better than ever.  It is a classic Disney attraction in every sense of the word and it really deserved this lengthy refurbishment.  With the return of the climbers and yodelers, the Matterhorn is really back as the king of the Disneyland Mountain Range!

The Grand Canyon and Primeval World

A few weeks ago, we went down to the parks and the first thing we did was ride the Disneyland Railroad.  Our plan was to do a grand circle tour plus one stop to NOS.  On the ride, I decided to see how well we could capture the Grand Canyon Diorama and Primeval World and what came out looked really great!

Let us know what other video content you would like to see on the site!  We hope to have some great interviews coming in the next few months.

Disneyland Custodial Artwork

This was one of the coolest things I have seen at the park.  A quick google search will show that the custodial team at TDA has been at this for a while, but with as much time as I have spent at the parks I have never seen this!

We had just finished out Fantasmic! 20th anniversary showing, had already ridden on Big Thunder Mountain and were headed to Pirates… when we saw a few people admiring something on the ground.  We saw some water on the ground and as our eyes adjusted to the ground in front of Riverbell Terrace, we realized that it was artwork!

Here are some pictures we snapped of a few of the characters drawn on the ground and to boot, I caught some video of the cast member drawing a huge Mickey Mouse in front of Pirates!  Enjoy!

Disneyland Therapy

Every now and again we all get a little blue.  What at the magic kingdom of Disneyland do you long for on those days when you feel down about yourself?

Mine?  The Enchanted Tiki Room.  How can anyone be sad when being crooned by birds, flowers, and tikis?

A year ago, I would have had a completely different answer but now, nothing brings a bigger smile to my face in the parks than a romp through the Enchanted Tiki room.  And an intro by famed cast-member Maynard is icing on top of the cake!

I know I wish I were there today!

Hear them do the chant!

Favorite Jungle Cruise Setting?

On this cloudy and foggy morning, I’ve been thinking about one of my favorite Disneyland attractions: The Jungle Cruise.  This type of weather makes for a perfect Jungle Cruise ride in my opinion.  I love getting to the park early in the morning when it’s still damp out and cruising through the rivers of adventure.  There is nothing better.

So I’m wondering…  Do you agree with me that cloudy mornings are the perfect setting for the Jungle Cruise?  Or do you like sunny afternoons?  Or night cruises under the full of the moon?  Let us know what your favorite is in the comment section below.
